‘Will bring autonomy resolution within a month if voted to power in J&K’: Farooq

Stressing on an early state Assembly election soon after the imposition of President’s Rule in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, he had asserted that Governor and President’s rule must come to an end

Former state Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Thursday, December 20, in a function said if voted to power, his party would bring the autonomy resolution within one month.

Speaking at a function Abdullah said: "If am blessed with good health by Allah and we are voted to power with absolute majority, I promise that we will bring the autonomy resolution within 30 days after assuming power.”

A former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Gagan Bhagat, who joined the the NC recently, was also present at the function.

The NC president said regional autonomy for the state was the core agenda of his party and there would be no compromise on it.

After the imposition of President's Rule in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, Farooq Abdullah had called for an early assembly election in the state, asserting that Governor and President's rule must come to an end.

He told media, "I think Governor and President's rule must come to an end. There should be elections soon. People must choose their representatives who can work."
