Justice S. Muralidhar took oath as the 32nd Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court on Monday.

He was administered the oath of office by Governor Professor Ganeshi Lal at Raj Bhawan.

Justice Muralidhar succeeded Justice Mohammad Rafiq, who has been transferred and appointed as the new Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Justice Muralidhar was serving as a judge at the Punjab and Haryana High Court before his elevation to Orissa High Court as the Chief Justice.


Justice Muralidhar started his career as a lawyer in Chennai in the year 1984. Three years later, he shifted to Delhi in 1987. He became a judge of the Delhi High Court in 2006.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated him.

"Congratulate Justice Dr S Muralidhar on being appointed as Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. Welcome him to #Odisha and wish him a successful tenure," tweeted the Chief Minister.
