No need to panic, J-K has adequate supply of essential commodities: Govt
The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday appealed to people to remain calm and avoid panic, assuring them that there is no shortage of essential commodities including food grains, petroleum products and cooking gas.
Minister for food, civil supplies and consumer affairs Satish Sharma made the appeal amid the ongoing military conflict between India and Pakistan. He expressed gratitude to trader associations and federations for their cooperation in ensuring that the supply chain remains unaffected. "Their support has been crucial in maintaining normalcy in the availability of various commodities," he added.

Pakistan claims India targeted three air bases with missiles, drones
Pakistan early today claimed that three of its air bases were targeted by Indian missiles and drones.
Pakistan military spokesperson Lt Gen. Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry told a press conference in Islamabad at around 4.00 am that Nur Khan (Chaklala, Rawalpindi), Murid (Chakwal) and Rafiqui (Shorkot in Jhang district) airbases of the Pakistan Air Force were targeted. "But all assets of the air force remain safe," he added. India fired air-to-surface missiles with its jets, he claimed.
Minutes later, citing security officials, state-run PTV said Pakistan has launched a retaliatory operation codenamed 'Bunyan al-Marsous', meaning 'iron wall', claiming that the Pakistan military used medium-range Fateh-1 missiles in the attack.
Deputy PM and foreign minister Ishaq Dar, who spoke with US state secretary Marco Rubio, said Pakistan is operating on the defensive. "This operation that we started today, it will all end in some way. It all depends on what India wants,” he told Geo News.
Lt Gen. Chaudhry claimed that several missiles were intercepted by Pakistan's air defence system.
Later, government officials claimed that Sheikh Zayed International Airport in Rahman Yar Kham, some 400 km from Lahore, was also targeted. A purported video showed a facility with some damage. They also alleged that a drone attempted to target Nankana Sahib, a claim debunked by India, which has maintained that it did not target any civilian infrastructure or facilities.

In response to Pakistani actions, India has responded in a measured way, Misri said. "It is the Pakistani act that constituted provocation and escalation," he added. .

Caught in the crossfire on the LoC
Sadly, for people living along the border, there is no immediate hope for an end to the ongoing firing and shelling, which has followed a disturbing pattern over the past ten days. Most of these incidents have occurred in four districts — Kupwara and Baramulla in the Kashmir Valley and Poonch and Rajouri in the Jammu region.
Besides the deaths, injuries and destruction of property, hundreds from Karnah have been forced to abandon homes, farmland with standing crops, and all their belongings in a desperate bid to stay alive. “Many have rented accommodation at the district headquarters in Kupwara while others have sought refuge in Srinagar. Just imagine the impact of this upheaval on the mental health of our children,” said Ishfaq Syeed.

A strategic pursuit of ‘national interest’
Militant attacks persisted, frequently targeting civilians and vulnerable infrastructure. While limited military actions may have psychological and symbolic value, particularly in domestic political contexts, evidence suggests that they have limited long-term impact on the operational and organisational capacity of terrorist groups.
Terror networks rooted in Pakistan are complex, transnational and resilient. Their decentralised structures and access to international support mean that striking a training facility or outpost is unlikely to yield meaningful results.
