Launching a renewed attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi coined a new slogan–Gali gali me shor hai, Hindustan ka chowkidar chor ha - during his rally in Dungarpur, Rajasthan.

Pitching for more women participation in elections, Rahul said, “I want to see more women candidates in elections because nothing can happen in India without them.”

Rahul’s visit came two days after BJP president Amit Shah visited the state. Speaking to farmers at a function in Nagaur district, Shah showered praise at PM Modi and said that he does not merely speak but work also

Addressing a huge rally, Rahul promised more employment opportunities if voted to power. He said, “Hum chahte hain ki ek din aap apne phone ke peeche dekho aur uspe likha ho ‘Made in Rajasthan’, ‘Made in Dungarpur’ (I want to see a day when at the back of your mobile phone it is written Made in Rajasthan, Made in Dungarpur.)”

This is the second visit of Rahul Gandhi to the poll bound state. He held a roadshow  on August 11, in Jaipur.

Raising the Rafale issue in the rally, Rahul said, “When UPA was in power a deal was signed to purchase 126 jets, then, as per the deal, price for one plane was ₹526 crore but when Modi ji came to the power he changed the deal without consulting anybody. He did not even consult his Raksha Mantri. He took Anil Ambani with him to Paris and announced the new deal. You know how much price was fixed for a plane? It was ₹1600 crore. Modi ji awarded the contract to his friend Ambani who did not have any experience in jet manufacturing…”

Considered a Congress stronghold, Dungarpur is tribal district in south Rajasthan. However, in 2013 assembly election, BJP pulled ahead of the Congress. Neighbouring districts such as Udaipur, Banswara, and Pratapgarh also voted for the BJP in chunk.

Rahul’s visit came two days after BJP president Amit Shah visited the state. Speaking to farmers at a function in Nagaur district, Shah showered praise at PM Modi and said that he does not merely speak but work also.
