The impact of cyclone arising in Bay of Bengal near the Odisha coast has severely impacted several districts of Bihar, including Patna, over the last 24 hours.

The Bihar capital registered 5.6 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. Mild to heavy rainfall at regular intervals with wind speed 30 to 40 kmph has been experienced in Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas, Kaimur and Arwal as well. Due to the bad weather, Patna-bound flights were diverted to Varanasi on Tuesday.

Temperature in Patna dipped 7 to 8 degree Celsius amid the inclement weather. It is 25 degrees in Patna.

The MeT officials believe the cyclone to impact Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Eastern Uttar Pradesh as well.

On Tuesday, a Bangalore-Patna flight was diverted to Varanasi due to low visibility at the Patna airport. The private airlines flight reached Patna airport at 2.30 p.m. but low visibility made it difficult for the pilot to make the landing, and the aircraft was diverted to the Uttar Pradesh city. That flight finally reached Patna airport at 4.45 p.m.
