A new trend has begun in Uttar Pradesh. The Yogi Adityanath government is out to take credit for anything and everything it has not done and has started (re)inaugurating them as well.

Earlier, with much fanfare, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Metro Rail service in Lucknow and now the BJP Government is out to inaugurate the ICU ward of the Ram Chikitsalaya (Hospital) in Ayodhya.

The said hospital was inaugurated in January 2017 by former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in a function held in Lucknow and the plaque was plastered on the wall of the hospital within a week’s time. But on Wednesday (October 12), some BJP leaders descended on the hospital and started dismantling it, saying SP workers had “mischievously” put up the plaque there knowing well that this ICU ward of the hospital will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on October 18.

This angered SP workers and they staged a protest on the hospital premises.

Akhilesh Yadav also joined in and accused the Yogi government of taking credit of the work done by his government. He also tweeted out a picture showing a labourer trying to shovel out the plaque while a BJP leader in saffron kurta stands watching over him.

Samajwadi Party tweeted to say: “Ayodhya, Faizabad mein Samajwadiyon dwara karayae gaye karyon ka sheelapat todte Bhajpai – dobaara lokarpan kee tyaari”

Akhilesh re-tweeted this tweet showing his endorsement.

Ganga Singh Yadav, Faizabad district president of Samajwadi Party, said the BJP has started a new practice.  They are not doing any development work themselves and now when they are facing the heat, the ruling party leaders are claiming the work done by previous government as their’s.

However, BJP president of Faizabad Unit Awdhesh Pandey said that this plaque was put up just 24 hours before by someone in the hospital administration who is sympathetic towards Samajwadi Party. The plaque was removed after a proper complaint was lodged with the police and the district administration, he said.

Earlier, Yogi, along with Rajnath Singh, had inaugurated the commercial run of metro rail in Lucknow whose trial run was flagged off by Akhilesh Yadav. SP workers then too had staged protest saying “Ram Ram Japna, paraya kaam apna.”
