Arnab’s Republic billboard ad gets trolled

A billboard advertisement for Arnab Goswami’s upcoming venture was called out on social media for apparently pandering to ‘warmongers’

TV journalist Arnab Goswami is again being discussed for all the wrong reasons. His upcoming TV news channel Republic is being criticised for a hoarding featuring Goswami’s picture. The hoarding reads: 'Pakistan’s migraine. Republic’.


This evoked a major response on social media, both from India and Pakistan. Several Twitter users took jibes at the TV journalist for the ad, some remarking that Goswami was “India’s migraine too”.

Wajahat S Khan, a Pakistani journalist, called out Goswami for the polarising billboard advertisement in a Facebook post. Questioning if the upcoming advertisement was “fair to peace in South Asia,” Khan remarked that Goswami was peddling an “Us vs them” narrative.

Commenting on Khan’s post, many Indians roasted Goswami for the choice of words in his advertisement.


“Pakistanis, you are lucky that he’s only your migraine. For us Indians, he is cancer,” wrote Nakul Singh Sawhney from India. The comment was liked 953 times until last checked.


A Twitter handle from Bengaluru, A Reasonable Man, remarked, “A warmonger & a rabble-rouser. The spurious case of Arnab Goswami. Pakistan's Migraine (You wish). But certainly India's Diarrhea.”
