BJP needs CAB and NRC to cling to power in the long run

The BJP-RSS know better than us that myths explode before long and once people begin to see through their hoax, it may prove to be BJP’s undoing. Hence, they need a Plan ‘B’ to remain in power forever

Everybody knows that the Narendra Modi government would not be able to deport a single “ghuspaithiya” (infiltrator) to Bangladesh or Pakistan because India does not have such an agreement with either of these countries, it’s natural for one to wonder what would be done with the crores of those segregated and stripped of their right to vote.

Besides, during Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to India in early October, PM Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar separately and repeatedly assured Sheikh Hasina that not a single person identified as an infiltrator and interned in camp prisons in Assam currently under the NRC or those to be similarly segregated thus, will be deported to Bangladesh.

So, the moot question is if no one is going to Bangladesh, where are all the crores (given that Shah has already made his intentions to extend NRC to other states too) going?

The Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) proposes that of these migrants Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Christians will be granted full citizenship. There are hardly any Sikhs, Jains and Christians that may be among those 19 lakh. That leaves out only Hindus and Muslims of which CAB will give the Hindus full citizenship while weeding out Muslims.

Again, everybody realizes that the BJP-RSS and their Modi-led government seldom do anything without a deep design and purpose. The proposed isolation and incarceration of crores of poor slum dwelling Muslims cannot be without a plan. So, what is the purpose behind the dreaded National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the Citizenship Amendment Bill?

The BJP, under Modi and Shah has proven for the first time, which Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani could not imagine let alone achieve it, is to get a majority in Parliament by marginalizing and isolating the Muslim voter. That is by raising communally divisive issues to the highest pitch, portray the Muslim as one who has been cornering all the goodies meant specifically for the Hindus alone and thus succeeding in othering the hapless poor Muslim, who together with his fellow poverty stricken Hindu brethren is facing the brunt of this government’s targeted pro-rich policies.

But they know better than you that myths explode before long and once the people begin to reflect, a realignment could take place which may prove to be BJP’s undoing, and this time it may not last just 10 years.

So, they have to make a long-term contingency plan and that is to systematically disenfranchise a large section of the population perceived as those inimical to them. In that list Muslims, in particular the poorer slum dwelling Muslims, top the list. So, disenfranchise them by declaring them non- citizens. Progressively others would follow too till finally an Aryavrat (a land for pure bred Aryans).

Those non Bhakts who can’t see this would meet the same fate as the youth of Assam and large parts of North East who readily voted for Modi, but their local leaders joined Amit Shah in voting for the CAB, little realising what they were bargaining for.
