Newly appointed Congress general secretary for eastern Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is all set to address her maiden public rally in PM Modi’s home turf, Gujarat on February 28.

Along with Priyanka Gandhi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi and her mother UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi will also address the rally, signaling that the Congress is ready to take on BJP in PM Modi's home state.

The rally will be held at Trimandir Ground, Adalaj in Gandhinagar, following the 51st Congress Working Committee (CWC) meet of the Congress party.

The CWC, the highest decision making body of the Congress party will discuss poll strategy and the roadmap for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, informed Gujarat MLA and Congress spokesperson Shakti Singh Gohil.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress Parliamentary Party leader Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad will also attend the CWC meeting.

“The preparations are in full swing for the rally which will be the biggest in Gujarat's history," said Gohil, adding that on the one hand, the resentment against Modi and the BJP is rising in Gujarat and on the other, the enthusiasm among the people and party cadres is on an all-time high.

“This will be the first time that the people of Gujarat will see  Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi from the same podium. It is going to be the biggest rally in recent times,” a source from Congress said.

After taking charge as the General Secretary in charge of east Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi along with brother Rahul and  General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh west, Jyotiraditya Scindia held a road-show in Lucknow on February 11. She also interacted with party workers and discussed poll strategy for Uttar Pradesh.

Due to the Pulwama terror attack Priyanka Gandhi had to cancel her first press meet as the Congress General Secretary in Lucknow on February 14.

Gujarat Congress chief Amit Chavda said the motive behind having the CWC meet and the rally in Gujarat was to send a strong signal to the BJP.

“Through the Adalaj rally, the entire Congress leadership will give voice to the people of Gujarat and the country whose aspirations have been crushed by the Modi government,” Chavda was quoted as saying by the media.
