Calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi “corrupt”, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said that the PM compromised national security and worked as a middleman for businessman Anil Ambani.

Continuing his attack on PM Modi over the Rafale deal, Rahul Gandhi told media at the Congress headquarters that Modi shared sensitive information with Anil Ambani which is a violation of the Official Secrets Act.

“Earlier there was one axis of corruption, second axis of procedure. This is the third, and frankly a serious one, where PM Modi has compromised national security. This is clear cut treason,” said Rahul.

“Modi is under oath to protect secrets. He has given these secrets to Anil Ambani, who knew about the biggest defence deal in the world ten days before it came through. This in itself is criminal. This will put the Prime Minister in jail,” emphasised the Congress president.

Referring to a report published in the Indian Express, Rahul said there is enough evidence in Rafale deal to launch an investigation (against the prime minister).

An email has come into light which states that Anil Ambani had visited the French Defence Minister in Paris and mentioned an MoU in preparation and the intention to sign it during the prime minister’s visit, said Rahul.

Stating that Modi is complicit in Rafale deal, Rahul asserted, “Defence Minister says he doesn’t know about the new deal, whereas Anil Ambani is sitting in the French Defence Minister’s office saying the PM will sign an MoU with him involved. This is the breach of the Official Secrets Act.”

No one will be spared, he said during the Conference.

In its report published on Tuesday, The Indian Express claimed that in the fourth week of March 2015, about 10 days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the procurement of 36 Rafale fighter aircraft from France,  Anil Ambani visited the then French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian’s office in Paris and had a meeting with his top advisers.
