A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentarian thrashed his own party’s legislator with a shoe in full public view, after the MP found his name missing from the foundation stone of a local project.

After he was attacked by the MP, the legislator retaliated, delivering a few blows before others present at the venue intervened and broke the fight.

The scuffle erupted on Wednesday during a meeting of District Planning Committee in the Collectorate Auditorium at Sant Kabir Nagar, which had MP Sharad Tripathi and MLA Rakesh Singh in attendance. Tripathi represents the Sant Kabir Nagar constituency in Parliament, while Singh is the local MLA.

As per news reports, several videos of the incident have been recorded and going viral on social media.

Later in the evening, supporters of the MLA staged a protest outside the District Magistrate office demanding arrest of BJP MP Sharad Tripathi.
