The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttarakhand has issued a show cause notice to it’s own legislator Kunwar Pranav Singh ‘Champion” for alleged anti-party activities. Uttarakhand BJP unit secretary Naresh Bansal, who was asked to look into the conduct of the party legislator from Khanpur assembly segment of Haridwar district, today issued show cause notice to him. Kunwar Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ has been given 10 days to reply to the notice asking him to explain his conduct.

‘Champion,’ a former Congress legislator who had defected to BJP along with nine other Congress MLAs in March 2016 to topple the then Harish Rawat-led Congress government, has started a tirade against Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. He has targeted the Chief Minister and another senior minister of the state over their avowed policy of “zero tolerance” against corruption.

Champion was miffed with Trivendra Singh Rawat and Uttarakhand Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik for allegedly ignoring him in the affairs of Haridwar district. Indrani Singh, Champion’s wife, is Haridwar Zila Panchayat chief. Champion has alleged that he was ignored by the Chief Minister at the behest of Madan Kaushik.

He met BJP national president Amit Shah against the allegedwrong doings of the Chief minister on February 11. He also tweeted after his meeting saying “Mission Successful’ which created a flutter in the BJP circles. This prompted the BJP organisation to start an inquiry into his alleged indiscipline. Interestingly, Champion, who had gone to meet the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat during a function at Doon University, was cold shouldered by the Chief Minister. Champion has said that he will reply to the show cause notice soon.
