After senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, in just two tweets, ripped apart his former colleague Arnab Goswami's lie about covering Gujarat riots of 2002, Republic TV’s editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami has become a butt of jokes with hashtag: ArnabDidIt occupying the trending space.

As tweeple unleashed their creativity and shared morphed pictures of Arnab on the social networking site, the borders between ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary history just disappeared. “I still get goosebumps thinking about how Arnab stared down a tank in Tiananmen Square,” wrote Gaurav Sabnis. A few named him Arno Da Goswama, a Portuguese laying siege to Goa.

Arnab became “Arnobus Goswamus” who discovered, America. In another tweeted photoshopped picture, he became Jawaharlal Nehru and PM Modi, Mahatma Gandhi. The caption read: “Arnoob with Bapu during Quit India Movement against Mughals. (Circa 1556) #ArnabDidIt.” For some, he faced Nazis in Germany and for others, it was Arnab who served the last supper that Jesus shared with his apostles. Not Gandhi Ji but Arnab was thrown from a railway carriage in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, because of his brown skin, others quipped.

While some scoffed that Arnab made first contact with extra-terrestrial life, sharing the picture of Jaadoo (an alien) from Koi... Mil Gaya—a 2003 Indian science fiction film directed by Rakesh Roshan, others showed him as someone who went to the moon before ‘pseudo-liberal’ Neil Alden Armstrong, an American astronaut walked on the moon.

Then he was depicted as “Comrade Arnab” leading the proletariat forces against the petty bourgeoisie during Russian Revolution. Suvojit took a jibe asking: remember when Arnab electrified the nation with the clarion call “Tum mujhe khoon do, main tumhe azadi doonga.

Not only history, many twitter users took their cue from the mythology, TV serials and movies. “Arnab set Lanka on fire with his tail in the Ramayana,” Ramanan wrote on twitter. Another twitter user, Vidyut mocked that “Arnab escaped the Mughal invasion on Ram Lila Maidan in a salwar kameez.”

In a photo-shopped picture, he was shown as Kapil Dev, receiving first cricket world cup for India. In another, he was shown as reporting Kargil war for Republic TV.

And in the heat of moment, chicken or the egg causality dilemma also got solved. Wrote Andani Azaz: “Who came first egg or chicken? Arnab: me.”
