Pained by the gruesome attack on the Amarnath pilgrims and the government’s inability to provide foolproof security to the pilgrims, many social media users demanded resignation from Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

As news of the attack broke out, people took to social media to vent out their anguish and frustration against the government. Many of the users held Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh directly responsible for the security lapses and demanded his resignation.

Prashant Navadgi wrote that terrorists never attacked Amarnath pilgrims. Who will take the responsibility for this attack?

After the attack, Rajnath Singh convened a high-level meeting on Tuesday at his residence in which NSA Ajit Doval, senior MHA officials and officials from Intelligence Bureau took part.

After the meeting, Singh said terror would be given a befitting reply but his words failed to impress netizens. Some of them ridiculed Singh by using a Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) images.

Taking a swipe at BJP’s double-speak, Twitter users attacked BJP’s spokesperson Sambit Patra and sought his explanation too.

Echoing netizens’ views, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah condemned the attack and hit out at the government for “failing” to secure the pilgrims.

Meanwhile, bodies of all seven Amarnath Yatra pilgrims have been handed over to their families. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani received the bodies in Surat and said that the driver who saved many lives would be recommended for bravery award.
