While Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ministers keep slamming Jawaharlal Nehru on a range of issues, Twitterati on Wednesday invoked the first Prime Minister of the country to lampoon PM Modi after his announcement on Mission Shakti.

In fact, his delayed special address to the nation came as a relief to many as the last time when PM Modi had addressed the country was November 8, 2016 when he announced demonetisation of high value currency notes.

As the address started later than promised, speculations were also rife in the cyber space with many searching terms like demonetisation, surgical strikes, and Dawood Ibrahim in google search engine. Many expected some major announcement ahead of Lok Sabha polls 2019.

While several twitter users dubbed PM Modi’s address as “showbiz” ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections, others credited Nehru for his vision for India’s space programme.

Many users shared old media reports, arguing that India did have the capability to shoot down a satellite in space even before Modi became the Prime Minister.

Some Twitter users termed Prime Minister’s address as a desperate attempt at diverting public attention from burning issues like unemployment and economic distress.

Taking a dig at PM Modi, hours after he announced that India has become the fourth country to execute low-orbit satellite destruction in space, Congress president Rahul Gandhi wished Narendra Modi “Happy World Theatre day”

“Well done DRDO, extremely proud of your work. I would also like to wish the PM a very happy World Theatre Day,” tweeted Gandhi.
