21 year old Harnaaz Sandhu from Chandigarh brought home the Miss Universe crown after 21 years and made every Indian proud and happy when she was named the winner of the 70th Miss Universe pageant.

Now she is the 3rd indian who won the title of Miss Universe after actors Sushmita Sen who won the same title in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000.

Harnaaz, who is an actress & model by profession, is pursuing her master's degree in public administration and has won many titles earlier as well. She started her journey at the age of 17 in pageantry.


She loves yoga, horse riding, cooking and believes her mother is her inspiration who is a Gynecologist.

The finale event of the annual international beauty pageant took place on the night of Dec 12 in Israel's Eilat where former Miss Universe 2020 from Mexico Andrea Meza crowned her.

During the final round of 'Q n A' Harnaaz was asked what advice she would give to young women on how to deal with the pressures they face, to that she said, "The biggest pressure the youth of today is facing is to believe in themselves, to know that you are unique and that's what makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourselves with others and let's talk about more important things that's happening worldwide.This is what you need to understand. Come out, speak for yourselves because you are the leader of your life, you are the voice of your own. I believed in myself and that's why I am standing here today.''

Meanwhile Miss Paraguay Nadia Ferreira was chosen as 1st runner-up and Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane became the 2nd runner-up of the event.

After winning the title, apparently the first thing in excitement Sandhu said was, "Chak De Phatte."
