A spectacular drone footage of an erupting volcano near the Fagradalsfjall in Iceland has gone viral online. Fagradals Mountain recently ejected a stream of lava from its belly, spewing the river down its side like a glacier of fire. The volcano, situated about 40 kms away from the Iceland capital Reykjavik, erupted on March 19.

Many people flocked to the nearest road to the mountain to look at the glowing embers but one photographer flew his drone right over to produce the most phenomenal images and videos. Travel blogger Bjorn Steinbekk flew his drone right over to produce the most phenomenal images and videos. The video has gone viral online and has been shared multiple times on various social media platforms.

The video shows red molten lava flowing like a river from the erupting volcano. As the 30-second-long clip goes on, a few drops of red-hot lava spouted by the volcano almost collide with the drone.

According to media reports, the volcano had been dormant for over 6,000 years. According to Icelandic Meteorological Office an eruption was anticipated in light of the multiple earthquakes. However, the eruption was not severe. More than 40,000 earthquakes occurred on the peninsula in the past four weeks before the eruption.
