Gurdwaras offer space for namaz in Gurgaon
Sona Chowk and Sadar Bazaar Gurudwara are allowing Muslims to offer namaz in their premises in Gurgaon
Few days ago after the objection by local people and various Resident Welfare Associations (RWA), the district administration of Gurugram had cancelled permission to offer Namaz at 8 designated places. But now, Gurdwaras in Gurgaon have opened their doors and are allowing Muslims to hold their namaz indoors.
The Sona Chowk Gurudwara has also opened its doors.
The five gurdwaras in Gurgaon under the committee’s administration are located in Sadar Bazar, Sector 39, Sector 46, Model Town and Jacobpura.
Describing the offer as “gracious”, president of the Jamiat Ulama in Gurgaon, Mufti Mohammad Saleem, said they met representatives of the gurdwaras, and decided to offer namaz at Sector 39 and Sadar Bazar this Friday that is Nov 19.
For the uninitiated, in recent months, some local residents and pro-Hindutva groups have disrupted Friday prayers in some public places in Gurgaon. On November 2, the district administration had said that the decision to identify or designate a spot for namaz will only be taken after obtaining consent from local residents and ensuring that there is no opposition in the area.
