While we get ready for winter and stock up on warm clothes, it is also the time to pay extra care and attention to our furry friends. Winters aren't easy for strays! Many dogs struggle to cope with the cold and many even die. As the temperatures fall, our dogs are more susceptible to falling ill due to the sudden change in the weather.

Taking note of the same, a youth from Assam has come up with a unique initiative to combine recycling and dog shelter. Abhijit Dowarah, a resident of Sivasagar, Assam has built makeshift shelters for street dogs using old TVs to help them beat the winter chill. The shelter is called 'Baator Ghor' (Street home).

In the video, one can see Dowarah building the doghouse from an old TV, then taking it to the streets, where adult dogs puppies are able to inhabit the shelter. Dowarah said that he painted them green and yellow because green signifies nature, while yellow is easy to notice for vehicles passing by

Dowarah also said that his desire to keep the dogs left on the street safe sprung up when he has gifted a puppy on his birthday five years ago. He realised how several dogs die of road accidents owing to careless drivers and by rolling out this concept he hopes to inspire young creators in the process.
