Streets were deserted and shops were shuttered across the country

Shortly after the self-imposed curfew got underway at 7 a.m.

The roads, markets and stations were deserted.

This was probably the first time in the Indian history when 'Janta ' volunteered to stay indoors

Most happening and crowded places  like Marine Drive in Mumbai remained deserted

Jama Masjid in Delhi and the market places too remained deserted

At 5 PM the socially distanced nation united by reverberating claps, thalis and conchs

The government announced further measures to contain the spread of the virus.

Only essential services will be allowed in 75 districts with confirmed coronavirus cases

Passenger train services across the country have been suspended until March 31

The active Covid-19 cases rose to 341 and the death toll increased to 6

People kept themselves indoors as part of the Janta cufew social distancing exercise.

All markets and establishments, except essential goods and services remained closed
