A 32 year old man tried to take his own life at Virar station in Mumbai, Maharashtra on February 24 reportedly because he was depressed after his mother's death. But an alert Railway Protection Force inspector saved him. The incident was captured on camera. Kishore Nayak walked down platform no. 3 at around 11:20 am and got down on the railway tracks. He then lay down on the tracks. An oncoming train was just 50 metres away from him.

Pravin Kumar, who was patrolling on another platform, jumped into action as soon as he spotted Nayak on the tracks. He ran and grabbed his arm and moved him off the track. Two constables, Ravindra and Ashish, helped move Nayak to the nearest platform. He was offered water and was calmed down. Nayak was then taken to the RPF Virar post and counselled.
