As the UPSC 2022 exam will take place in June this year here is an inspirational tale of Himanshu Gupta which will motivate the aspiring candidates to be firm on their decision.

IAS Himanshu Gupta used to sell tea during his childhood and he had to travel 70 km every day to reach his school as it was the nearest English medium school in his area.


Himanshu was born in Uttarakhand's Sitarganj district and his father was a daily wage worker but despite poverty and the least resources in hand he not only dreamt of becoming an IAS officer but fulfilled it as well.

Apparently, he spent his childhood in immense poverty when his father realised that his daily wage job would not suffice his

family's needs, he opened a tea stall. Himanshu used to help his father at the tea stall after his school hours.

After his schooling, Himanshu took admission to Delhi University's Hindu College and paid his fee by taking tuitions, writing blogs and scholarships.

He took a Master's degree in Environmental Sciences and topped his batch. Post that he had the option to pursue a PhD in a foreign country but he chose to stay in India and pursue Civil Services.

He attempted UPSC Civil Services Exam thrice. In the first attempt, he qualified the Civil Services but only got selected for IRTS. He continued his preparation and became an IPS in the 2019 UPSC Exam.

In his final attempt that was the 3rd attempt, he appeared for UPSC Civil Services and qualified for Indian Administrative Services (IAS).

undoubtedly, Himanshu Gupta proved that hard work and never giving up attitude is all we need to dream big and to achieve that goal.
