As the retail price of regular petrol crossed the Rs 100 per litre barrier in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar and Madhya Pradesh, fuming social media users took to their respective handles to show their anger by sharing sarcastic memes and jokes. After Rajasthan, petrol price crossed the Rs 100 per litre mark in Madhya Pradesh after fuel rates were increased for the tenth day in a row on February 18.

Soon after state-owned fuel retailers released the price notification, Social media is abuzz with conversations surrounding the fuel price hike and #Petrol100 started to trend on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had on Wednesday blamed output cut by oil-producing nations for the rally in international oil prices that have translated into higher retail rates in India.

He urged Saudi Arabia and other global oil producers to ease production cuts, saying rising international oil prices are hurting economic recovery and demand.
