Comedian turned politician Bhagwant Mann is Aam Aadmi Party's chief ministerial candidate for Punjab.

He was selected as the CM candidate of AAP in Punjab through a televoting drive after receiving more than 93 per cent of the votes.

Reportedly, more than 21 lakh people participated in AAP's 'Janta Chunegi Apna CM' drive and shared through phone and WhatsApp who should be the party's chief ministerial candidate.


As Punjab is all set to cast the vote in single-phase assembly elections on February 20, here are some details about AAP's Punjab frontman Bhagwant Mann.

Bhagwant Mann, who was born in Sartoj village in Sangrur is a comedian-turned-actor-turned-politician.

He entered into politics a decade ago in 2011 with the People's Party of Punjab.

He was often targeted by his rivals for his past addiction to alcohol, but at a rally in Punjab in 2019, he had announced and taken an oath that he will never drink again and will devote his time to work for the people of Punjab.

He also has his own charitable foundation, the Lok Lehar Foundation that focuses on children with special needs.
