The Meerut-based jeweler has been conferred with The Guinness World Record for making a ring with 12,638 diamonds. The ring has been named “The Marigold – The Ring of Prosperity”. 25-year-old Harshit Bansal who learned jewel designing from Surat after doing his BBA and MBA from SRM University, started working on the ring in 2018 and he completed the task in February 2020.

Shaped in the form of a marigold flower, the ring is encrusted with 12,638 diamonds and weighs a little over 165 grams. 38.08-carat natural diamonds have been used in the creation.

Reacting to the remarkable feat, Harshit said that he got the idea two years ago while studying jewelry design in the western city of Surat, India’s diamond hub. “My target was always more than 10,000 diamonds. I trashed many designs and concepts over the years to finally zero in on this,” the designer said, adding “It’s a matter of pride for us.”

Talking about his unique design, Harshit said “Each petal in the ring is uniquely shaped and none of the petals are identical to each other which gives the ring a perfect blend of organic symmetry, design, and alignment, Harshit said.

Professional gemologist and jewelry designer Harshit, who owns Meerut’s Renani Jewels, further said that he has no plans to sell his record-breaking design just yet. He said that this ring is ‘priceless’ for him and his family.

“It is priceless. We will keep it with us for now. It has an emotional attachment,” the designer said.

The ring is certified by International Gemological The laboratory which is one of the most prestigious labs for diamond jewelry certification globally.

The previous record for the most diamonds set in a ring determined by Guinness, also set in India by a Hyderabad-based jeweler, and was for another flower-shaped ring containing 7,801 diamonds. The ring was named ‘ The Divine-7801 Brahma Vajra Kamalam’, taking inspiration from Brahma Kamalam, a rare flower found in the Himalayas.
