Actor Sonu Sood, who has been at the forefront of helping people ever since the pandemic hit the country in 2020 has tested positive for Covid-19.

Sonu had received his first dose of the coronavirus vaccine on April 7 and was recently made the brand ambassador for Punjab's coronavirus vaccination programme.

Notably, Sood isn't the only one to get the infection after getting his first dose of vaccine. Actor Paresh Rawal was one of the first celebrities to contract Covid after his first jab.

Sonu shared his diagnosis through social media on Saturday and tweeted “This is to inform you that I have tested positive this morning for Covid-19. As a part of precaution, I’ve already quarantined myself and taking utmost care. But don’t worry, this gives me ample time to solve your problems, remember that I’m always there for you.”

On Friday, Sonu had expressed his helplessness over being unable to arrange hospital beds and medicines for Covid-19 patients from all across India.

He tweeted

“Since morning I haven’t kept my phone down, thousands of calls from all over India for HOSPITAL BEDS, MEDICINES, INJECTIONS and still not able to provide to many of them, I feel so helpless. The situation is scary, pls stay at home ,wear mask and prevent yourself from infection.”

He further wrote, “All said and done, I am still on it, I am sure together we can save many more lives. It’s time not to blame anyone but to come forward for a needy who needs your help. Try to provide medical needs to the ones who don’t have an access. LETS SAVE LIVES TOGETHER. Always there for u (you).”

From arranging transport for stranded migrant workers to helping patients who suffer from serious diseases, from arranging mobile phones for the students' online class to arranging oxygen cylinder for patients, Sonu has been constantlt helping people impacted by the pandemic and lockdown.

He has also shared his experiences of the pandemic and the plight of migrant workers in his book I Am No Messiah that released in December last year.
