Tokyo 2020's Olympic medallists felicitated by Sports Authority of India at Dhyan Chand Stadium

The Olympic medalists for Tokyo 2020 were honoured at Dhyan Chand Stadium by the Sports Authority of India on August 9. The Sports Authority of India has honoured all Olympic medalists, including Neeraj Chopra, Bajrang Punia, PV Sindhu, Mirabai Chanu, Lovlina Borogohain, Ravi Kumar Dahiya and men's hockey team.

At the felicitation ceremony, they were presented mementos and shawls by the minister. Both the bronze-winning men's hockey team and fourth-place finishing women's team cut cakes after arriving at the hotel.

Neeraj Chopra was mobbed by fans and VIPs as soon as he landed at the IGI Airport in the capital city.

Neeraj then shared his thoughts on the gold medal win before delivering an important message for everybody listening.


Besides Neeraj, other winning players also shared their emotions on the occasion after their successful journey.


India finished 48th in this year’s Tokyo Olympics 2020, its highest ranking in about 4 decades. This year's performance was remarkably better than that at Rio, where the Indian contingent was placed 67th with just 2 Olympic medals. Overall, India finished 48th in the medals table with seven medals including one gold, two silver, and four bronze. USA took the top spot with 113 medals, China (88) came second and hosts Japan (58) are third.
