Eight more people died from coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday as 117 fresh cases pushed the total number of infections in the state to 6,04,279, according to officials.
So far, the infection has claimed 8,737 lives in the state, they said.
"In the past 24 hours, 117 fresh cases were reported while 191 patients were discharged. The total number of active cases in the state is now 1,647 while 5,93,895 people have been treated so far," Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad told reporters.
The state has so far reported 6,04,279 cases, officials said.
On Saturday, over 1.08 lakh samples were tested.

After a year since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, authorities in Indonesia have found two cases infected with the variant of the virus which was first found in the UK late last year.
Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono Harbuwono confirmed the development, saying: "I received information that right after one year we found a B117 mutation in Indonesia," Xinhua news agency reported.
The country detected the coronavirus disease for the first time on March 2, 2020.

A light intensity earthquake occurred in Jammu & Kashmir on Sunday as no report of any casualty or damage to property was received from anywhere so far.
Officials of the disaster management authority said an earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale occurred at 4.40 a.m. on Sunday whose coordinates are latitude 33.0 degrees north and longitude 75.86 degrees east.
