Man rides 200 km with wife and kid on stolen bike, returns it on reaching Home 

A lathe workshop owner at Sulur in Coimbatore, V Suresh Kumar, got his stolen bike back through a parcel after Prashanth, the man who stolen the bike, decided to return Kumar’s bike

Amid the strained atmosphere due to the spread of corona infection, a pleasant news has emerged for Sulur in Coimbatore, V Suresh Kumar, lathe workshop owner got his stolen bike back through a parcel on Saturday.

Kumar received a call that from a parcel agency that a motorcycle has been sent to him, which he was searching after it was stolen on May 18.

After that, he went to the police to lodged a complaint but was turned back empty-handed as the cops said they were busy tackling the ongoing Coronavirus situation so would not able to help him to track down the thief.

Taking the matter in his own hand, Kumar started the investigation with a CCTV clip of the theft incident which he found from his area. He showed it around to get the thief identity.

The probe by Kumar revealed that the person who has stolen his bike was Prashanth, who works at a tea shop near Kumar’s factory.

Prashanth was from Mannargudi town, 240 kms away from Coimbatore. Due to the lockdown he lost his job and wanted to take his wife and kid to his hometown. This leads him to steal a bike so that he can drive his family back home.

Later, Prashanth came to know about the investigation through his colleague and he decided to return Kumar’s bike due to the fear of being caught by the police.

Prashanth went to a parcel shop and paid for the declared value of Rs.13,400 of the parcel to the address written on the RC book kept in the bike. On account of which Suresh Kumar had to pay up another Rs.1,400 as the declared value of his bike as per the insurance papers was Rs. 34,000.

On the whole incident Kumar, bike owner said, “At least I got the bike back and that too in good condition. It was a huge handicap without the bike especially after I reopened my workshop for business,' Suresh Kumar said.

After this, Kumar has withdrawn his police complaint.
