Google is now legal to get a drink! As Google turns 21, it paid tribute to older times with its Doodle on Friday. The Doodle shows a computer as it looked like 21 years ago when creators of Google Sergey Brin and Larry Page made oit functional on 98/9/27.

In 1998, Stanford Ph.D. students and Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page wrote a detailed outline of Google and what it will become in the publication titled “The Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hypertextual Web Search Engine”. In it, the world-celebrated geniuses outlined Google, an archetype "large-scale search engine" that had a built-in of "at least 24 million pages."

Google is derived from the word ‘Gogol’ which is equal to 10 to the power of 100. Brin and Page had envisioned to make such a mega information-holding and delivering system.

Starting as a humble search engine, Google now holds the power as a giant in the advertising sector, playing a huge role in ushering us to the information age. Not only is Google the world's most visited website, but it's also ironically even one of the most-searched terms on Bing, another search engine. From education to research to advertisements; there is no arena Google does not serve the information age in.

Who knew Google will become such a big part of all our lives?

For people who are now in their twenties, it was Google which helped them in almost every school assignment. Before Whatsaap, it was Gmail and google hangout, the youngsters used for chatting. Google first announced its e-mail service, known as G-mail, on April Fool's Day in 2004 which made many people wonder if it was just a joke!

Amid the talks of the climate crisis that the world is facing today, it is noteworthy that April 2018 onwards, Google became the first company to achieve 100% renewable energy. This means that it is able to purchase a kilowatt of renewable energy for every kilowatt it uses.

Among the many tricks Google to attract users, there are three that always come to mind. Like a search with the word “askew” makes the webpage tilt, and the words “do a barrel roll” make the webpage roll, literally.

Google was actually the very first company of its size and stature to offer free meals to people who work there, the employees are allowed to bring in their pets to work.

Google's parent company Alphabet Inc was estimated at $137 billion last year. At the time it was started, the objective of "Google" was to "organise the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful". It’s safe to say it has done so much more today.
