Karnataka Congress leaders have hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party’s Karnataka CM face BS Yeddyurappa after the PM’s rally in Bengaluru on Sunday. Modi had launched a no-holds barred attack on the Congress as he addressed the people at the culmination of BJP's 90-day long "journey to build a new Karnataka" rally, across the poll-bound state. They lambasted the PM on his silence on the Mahadayi issue and slammed Yeddyurappa for calling Karnataka the most corrupt state.

Earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had taunted Prime Minister Narendra Modi hours before his arrival in Bengaluru.

BJP’s CM face BS Yeddyurappa was quick to hit back at Siddaramaiah’s tongue-in-cheek welcome, but in the process committed a blooper. He called Karnataka the ‘No. 1 corrupt’ state, perhaps forgetting that he too has served a term as chief minister, during which he was indicted by the Karnataka Lokayukta for corruption.

Siddaramaiah didn’t waste a moment to embarass Yeddyurappa on his tweet, mocking him as the “man who presided over India’s biggest mining scam during his rule” and further saying only a person "totally lacking in #KannadaSwabhimana can call Karnataka, one of the most progressive states in India, No. 1 Corrupt State”.

Actor Prakash Raj on Monday took to Twitter and wrote a cryptic message that said "Promise toothpaste sold in 2014" failed to bring smiles to "distressed farmers or jobless youth".

"Promise toothpaste sold in 2014 (forget brushing the teeth) could not bring a smile on distressed farmers or jobless youth of my country. Do you believe Promise Toothpaste sold yesterday in Karnataka rally? Will bring it? Just asking," Prakash tweeted.
