Abhijeet Dipke objects to visitor restrictions, demands ‘rude’ police officer’s removal
CJP convenor seeks removal of sub-inspector from his security detail and alleges plainclothes CID personnel were monitoring activity near his residence
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) convenor Abhijeet Dipke confronted a police sub-inspector assigned to his security detail, accusing the officer of preventing visitors from entering his home and seeking his removal from the deployment.
Dipke alleged that the officer had behaved rudely towards people arriving to meet him and was attempting to monitor and restrict access to his residence in the Waluj MIDC area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
The 30-year-old activist was provided security after receiving threats and amid a rise in the number of people visiting his home.
Videos of Dipke speaking to the sub-inspector and complaining about him to a senior police official over the telephone circulated widely on social media on Friday.
In one of the videos, Dipke can be heard questioning the officer’s authority to prevent people from entering the house when he had invited them.
“What is the problem in allowing people to come into my home when I am asking them to come in? Why are you behaving like the Delhi police? No problem has occurred till today. I am seeing you for the first time. You (police) will not tell me whom I should meet and whom I should not meet,” he told the plainclothes officer.
Dipke, who identified the sub-inspector only as Suresh, then asked him to leave the premises.
“You please go out, I don’t want you in my house,” he said.
In another video, Dipke is seen raising the matter with a senior police officer over the telephone. He alleged that the sub-inspector was being discourteous to his visitors and asked that he be withdrawn from the security detail.
“A PSI named Suresh has come here, and he is very rude to people coming to meet me. He is telling people to go out. Is this being done deliberately? I don’t want him; remove him from here,” Dipke said during the call.
The CJP convenor also alleged that personnel from Maharashtra’s Criminal Investigation Department were operating in plain clothes near his residence and reporting developments through a social media group called “Hit Spray”.
Dipke claimed a journalist had spotted the personnel and seen the name of the group on one of their mobile phones. According to him, the individuals identified themselves as CID personnel when local police attempted to remove them from the area.
“A reporter told me some CID people were spotted near my home. When police tried to remove them, they revealed they were from the CID,” he alleged.
There was no immediate official response to Dipke’s claims. Deputy Commissioner of Police Pankaj Atulkar, whose jurisdiction includes the Waluj MIDC area, could not be reached for comment despite repeated attempts.
