How different is the perception towards music in the Marathi and Hindi film industry? What difference do you guys find?

Marathi still focuses on single composer making the entire album in most cases, with music director given a brief and screenplay of the entire movie by the director, Hindi films nowadays take music from multiple composers mostly and composers are given only a brief about a particular situation for the song.

Where did the two Rohans first meet and when did you guys decide to join and work together?

Both Rohans entered the Mumbai music industry, separately, through plays, ad films and television serials. In 2014, Gokhale and Pradhan were assigned to make music for Keymon Ache, the first non-mythological animated show produced in India, which aired on the Nickelodeon India and Nickelodeon Sonic channels. While working on that, we sawt hat there’s a lot of sync and harmony and coherence in our ideas,” Gokhale says.“There was good give-and-take in our music and that’s how decided to work together. And we started our journey together with a single.”

When you work for a high profile movie like Sanju, how difficult is it to create a kind of music with which people can identify with two big personalities, Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt?

Its about Staying true to the script and director’s vision. Rajkumar Hirani is always very sure about that he wants, so it was not very difficult under his guidance.

And what about Thackeray? A bigger biopic than Sanju especially for the Marathi audience. What were the challenges to create music that goes with the personality of the one and only Balasaheb Thackeray?

of course it’s a responsibility, Bala sahebis a legend now. A lot of sentiments are attached to him, so it was a challenge. But again, staying true to the script and his persona made it much simpler, and Mr Sanjay Raut’s active participation and suggestion in each song made the process much simpler and clear to us.

What are your plans now, how do you both plan to take your association forward?

Just keep doing good work, original work that stays with people. Film music and singles are planned next!

You have also worked for RVCJ media which is the largest digital platform in India. How was your experience?

RVCJ is doing good as online content creator. There are short web series and a lot of engagement of young peoplethere. Many young stars are also coming up through these series like Apurva Arora. We are also doing a lot of stuff with RVCJ. We do all their film background score. Working for the web series exhorted us to explore the unexplored since web series were also a new concept in India. So  we are exploring and innovating as we move ahead.
