After Padman, Akshay Kumar is returning to the silver screen with Gold. Gold’s trailer was released on Monday morning and by the looks of it, the film seems to be promising.

Though it, somehow, has become typical of Akshay Kumar to spread the message of patriotism through his film, Gold focuses on a hockey player’s dream of playing for independent India and winning gold medal for the country.

According to the co-producer of the film, Ritesh Sidhwani, the movie is based on true events but with fictional characters. Notwithstanding the contradiction in this statement by Sidhwani, the film is important because it centres around hockey. After Chak De! India in 2007, this is another film which has hockey as its main theme. Another film on hockey, Soorma, is slated to release in July.

Besides Akshay Kumar, Gold’s cast includes Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh and TV actress Mouni Roy, who debuts in Bollywood with the film.
