Boris Johnson elected the next UK Prime Minister. The leadership contest took place after Theresa May announced she would resign as PM following repeated rejections of Brexit deal she struck with EU
Boris Johnson has won a Conservative Party leadership race and will go on to become the United Kingdom’s next prime minister.

Boris was elected as party leader, and consequently the Britain’s leader, with 92,153 votes from members of the ruling Conservative Party. His rival in the race, Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt, received 46,656 votes. Johnson will take up office on Wednesday.
The new prime minister, who has previously been the UK foreign minister and mayor of London, will likely usher in a new team of ministers. Some incumbents have already announced their impending departure, including Finance Minister Philip Hammond, largely because of their different stances over Brexit.
