On November 26 –which is celebrated as the Constitution Day in India – Kisan Mahapanchayats will be organised all over the country with a huge Kisan Rally in Delhi, announced the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM).

On the completion of one year of their struggle against the three farm laws, farmers will organise rallies in different parts of the country.

And all three protest sites on the borders of Delhi will see huge gatherings of farmers. Homage will be paid to over 650 farmers who sacrificed their lives during the struggle, said the SKM outlining the programme for November.

It is worth noting here that the Constituent Assembly adopted Constitution on 26 November 1949, and it came into effect on 26 January 1950.

Our main emphasis will be on the Tractor Rally till Parliament during the winter session, commencing from November 29, said a farm leader.

When asked, the leader, however said the permission for the tractor rally has not yet been sought by the farmers' body.

“Some 500 farmers will participate in a peaceful tractor march to Parliament every day during Winter Session starting November 29 to mark one year of the movement against the Centre’s three agriculture laws,” said the SKM – an umbrella body of over 40 farmers’ organisations.

This will be done to “increase the pressure” on the central government “to force it to concede to the demands for which farmers across the country have launched a historic struggle”.

Earlier this year in March, farmers had taken out a “foot march” to Parliament to oppose the three farm laws enacted by the Modi government.

Notably, on January 26, a tractor rally had turned violent with some protesters allegedly breaking barricades, attacking security personnel, and storming the Red Fort, where they reportedly hoisted a religious flag.
