Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Supreme Court for his party on the Ram temple issue because the country had elected him with an overwhelming majority.
Speaking to reporters here, Raut said: "The auspicious time has arrived. Soon the construction of the Ram temple will begin in Ayodhya under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This is not a fight for taking credit. We will listen to Modiji because the country has elected him. He is our Supreme Court."

An armed attack on a village in central Mali left 100 people dead on Monday, officials said
Over 90 bodies have been found and more than 30 people are still missing, Efe news reported, citing authorities.
Local and regional government officials said a group of armed men arrived at Sona Koubou in the morning, a village that is inhabited by members of the Dogon ethnic group, surrounded it and set houses on fire while the residents were inside.

Alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was spreading rumours about violence in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday accused the saffron party of plotting a conspiracy to topple her government.
"There is no point sending me behind bars. If the BJP thinks it can stop me from opposing them by shutting my mouth and plotting a conspiracy to topple my government, it must know an injured tiger is more dangerous than a dead one," Banerjee said after a review meeting.

Malaysian authorities are trying to find the cause of death of a dozen indigenous people in an isolated village in the Kelantan state.
Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad said on Monday authorities were trying to locate the graves of 12 of the 14 indigenous people of the Batek tribe who had died past month. Of these, two deaths were due to pneumonia.
He said exhuming bodies for post-mortem was vital to determine the actual cause of death and whether the mystery illness had infected others in the village as well, state news agency Bernama reported.

NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma on Monday demanded capital punishment for the six convicts in the sensational Kathua gang rape-murder case, saying the Jammu and Kashmir government should appeal in higher court.
A court in Pathankot on Monday sentenced to life imprisonment the three main accused in the gang rape and murder of an 8-year-old nomadic girl in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua, while awarding five years in jail to three others for destruction of evidence.
Sharma welcomed the conviction, but said she was expecting capital punishment for the culprits.

Delhi Labour Minister Gopal Rai Monday inspected state-owned GTB Hospital and directed authorities to ensure contractual employees get notified minimum wages.
The minister also directed the hospital management to re-instate the services of sacked contractual employees, an official said.
The labour minister asked officers concerned to clear the files pertaining to minimum wages of such employees within three days, he added.
Last week, Rai had inspected LNJP Hospital and had been told that contractual employees there have not received salaries for three months

The Delhi High Court on Monday sought Delhi University's reply on why it had amended its criteria for admissions just a day before opening of registration for admissions.
Responding to a plea challenging the new eligibility norms for undergraduate commerce and economics honours courses, a division bench of Justices Anu Malhotra and Talwant Singh observed that there was arbitrariness in amending the criteria.
The court asked the Centre, Delhi University and the University Grants Commission to file a reply by June 14, the next date of hearing.
The lawyer has said that DU's decision to amend the criteria at the last moment was in violation of the principle of natural justice.
As per new norms, 50 per cent marks in Mathematics in class 12 is mandatory for applying for admission in undergraduate commerce courses, which was not followed earlier, the advocate said.

Delhi on Monday witnessed maximum temperature going to "record" 48 degree Celsius mark.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), an observatory in Safdarjung recorded maximum temperature at 45.6 degrees Celsius while the one in Palam saw mercury touching 48.0 degree mark.
Earlier, the highest temperature was recorded at 47.8 degree Celsius in 2014. Western, central, and northern parts of the country on Monday witnessed a surge in temperature, making the heatwave conditions severe.

Police in Assam have arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in forcing some dancers to strip during a cultural programme at a village in Assam's Kamrup district.
The police said four persons have been arrested on Sunday after the artists of the cultural troupe lodged an FIR with the police on Saturday. The incident took place on June 7 at Asalpara under Boko police station in Assam's Kamrup district, a few kilometres away from Guwahati.
Police said that the 42-member dance troupe from Boko was invited by organisers of some Eid Mehfil to Asalpara area. As per the agreement, the dance troupe went there to perform and started performance of their dance numbers.

A Naxal "militia commander" involved in several attacks on security personnel was arrested in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Sunday evening, an official said.

An uneasy calm prevailed in Tappal on Monday with a heavy police deployment in the town, a day after it witnessed tense moments.
Police struggled to keep the situation under control throughout the day on Sunday when protestors kept mounting pressure on the authorities for meting out "instant justice" in the murder case of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, which has sparked a nationwide outrage.

A heavy rainfall warning has been issued in parts of Gujarat in the next few days due to a depression in the Arabian Sea which is likely to turn into a severe cyclonic storm, a MeT official said on Monday.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea in the next few days and ports have been asked to flag the danger signal, he said.
"Heavy rain warning has been issued for Saurashtra and Kutch on June 13 and 14 due to the depression in the Arabian Sea which will turn into a severe cyclonic storm," said state meteorological director Jayanta Sarkar.
The depression over south-east, adjoining Lakshadweep and east-central Arabian Sea moved northwards with a speed of about 31 kmph on Monday.

A coal-laden goods train caught fire at Sabira railway station in Odisha's Balasore district on Monday, railway officials said. No one was hurt in the incident, they said. Fire broke out in one of the wagons in the tail end of the goods train.
The goods train with 58 wagons loaded with coal was on its way from Odisha's Talcher to Haldia in West Bengal. The train was halted at Soro where two fire tenders doused the flame before it proceeded for its destination, they said.

The benchmark BSE Sensex rallied over 350 points and the NSE Nifty reclaimed the 11,900 level in early trade Monday driven by gains in IT and banking stocks amid positive global and domestic cues.
After hitting a peak of 39,979.48, the 30-share index was trading 272.07 points, or 0.69 per cent, higher at 39,887.97. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty spurted 76.25 points, or 0.64 per cent, to 11,946.90.

A cyclone is most likely to occur in the Arabian Sea some 300 kilometres off the country's west coast between June 11-12, a Maharashtra government advisory said on Sunday.
The cyclone, while not hitting the state, is likely to result in gusty winds and a turbulent sea, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) officials said while speaking to news agency PTI.
