ANI reported that according to government officials, India successfully test-fired the Pralay conventional quasi ballistic missile which can hit targets between 150 to 500 km, today. The test was conducted for a different range and different configuration and met all the parameters.

ANI quoted Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik as saying, "The manner in which Aaditya Thackeray received a threat letter, we suspect if it's connected to the organisations that murdered (Narendra) Dabholkar & (Govind) Pansare. I too have received such threats. We've written for an investigation into it. I think it is a serious matter, after losing power, some organisations are behaving in this manner. Home Department will probe it and find out who is behind it. They will be nabbed and punished."

Earlier this morning, Mumbai Crime Branch Cyber Cell arrested a man, Jaisingh Rajput from Bengaluru for giving life threats to Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray. He had called the Minister on 8th Dec and left him threatening text messages after the latter didn't receive the call.

J&K: IED found planted at roadside in J&K

ANI reported that in a joint search operation by Pulwama Police, 50 RR & 183 Bn CRPF, on Newa-Srinagar road in Wanpora, one IED was found planted at the roadside. It weighed approx 5 kgs & was assembled in a container. Bomb disposal team of Police and Army destroyed it on spot via controlled detonation.

Kalyani: 29 students test positive

ANI reported that 29 students of standard 9th and 10th of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kalyani, West Bengal tested positive for Covid. The school principal, Mousumi Nag, said that they were advised home quarantine as they've symptoms of cough and cold. Their guardians have been informed to take them back to their homes.

ANI reported that India reported 7,495 new Covid cases, 6,960 recoveries, and 434 deaths in the last 24 hours. This takes the number of active cases to 78,291, the total recoveries to 3,42,08,926, the death toll to 4,78,759, the total vaccination to 1,39,69,76,774 and the total number of Omicron cases to 236.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of Omicron cases in India is now up to 236, of which 104 have recovered, reported ANI.
