Parents of the students in Modern Vidya Niketan School Aravali Hills on Badhkal Surajkund Road in Sector – 43, Faridabad (Haryana) have voiced their resentment against school administration for suspending regular classes.

The school authorities have instead allowed the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to hold a week-long conference inside the school. The senior secondary school—which is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), has also reportedly arranged all the boarding and lodging facilities for the participating RSS activists.

The decision of school administration to allow RSS to hold its function at the cost of education of its students has irked many parents. While the school has three other branches including MVN School in sector 17, MVN School Palwal and MVN School sector 88 in Greater Faridabad, parents alleged that the school management is trying to woo state BJP government to seek return favours.

“I and my wife work in Delhi. The school has asked students to stay at home for a week. Now either of us have to stay home to take care of our two children on alternative days,” said a parent of a class X student, wishing not to be quoted.

“The school administration put up a vacation notice and informed the students that there will be no classes on Tuesday,” echoed another parent, adding that this had happened for the first time that school authorities have suspended classwork without citing any reasons.

Accusing the school administration of flouting the guidelines from the school education department by holding classes even during peak summer and winter vacations, he said: “To deny holidays to the students, the school authorities usually claim that students have to be coached well ahead of the academic year so that they will be all set for competitive exams.”

Despite several attempts, school administration didn’t respond to the repeated phone calls. Some teachers who were contacted by National Herald refused to comment.

When the NH correspondent visited school on Saturday morning, the security staff told him, “The school is not holding classes for the past five days. The regular class work will be resumed from Monday onwards.”

“RSS is holding its shivir inside the school these days,” they said, adding that the principal had left for the day and the teaching staff was also not coming to the school.
