PUCL, Bihar condoles death of it’s former secretary, Neelabh Mishra

People’s Union for Civil Liberties, Bihar hails Neelabh Mishra as an activist with an incisive mind, independent spirit and uncompromising on principles

PUCL, Bihar condoles the death of renowned journalist, scholar and human right activist Neelabh Mishra who was suffering from a chronic disease of liver cirrhosis. He was admitted in Apollo Hospital, Chennai for liver transplant. He died of multiple organ failure, today 24.02.17. He was 57. May his soul rest in peace.

He had a long career in Hindi and English journalism. He was, at present, editor in chief of English daily, National Herald. He held the post of Editor of Outlook (Hindi) also. In 2016, he led the team that re-launched the National Herald digitally. He was known for fearless and responsible journalism.

Apart from this, he was secretary of PUCL, Bihar from 1988-91. His stint as secretary was remarkable. His contribution to PUCL during this period was daunting and invaluable. He was an activist with an incisive mind, independent spirit and uncompromising on principles. While retaining these sterling qualities, his death at such a young age is too shocking to be borne. PUCL Bihar with a grieved heart and soul pay tribute to him.
