Remember the Karni Sena which harassed Padmavat actors and director? Well, they are back in action, and this time their target is Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi’. Ranaut claims that the group is ‘harassing’ her over her film ‘Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi’ which is releasing on Friday, January 25. The film was successful in obtaining a certificate from the Prasoon Joshi chaired Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC), however the Karni Sena has asked Kangana, who has also co-directed the film to show them the film first.

However, Kangana reacted to their demands on Friday, January 18 saying “I am a Rajput too and will ‘destroy’ the Karni Sena if they continue to harass me over the film's release.”

In a statement released to the press, Kangana said, "Four historians have certified Manikarnika, we have got CBFC (censor board) certificate as well, Karni Sena has been conveyed this but they are continuing to harass me. If they don't stop then they should know I am also a Rajput and I will destroy each one of them,"

The issue emerged after the Maharashtra wing of Karni Sena thought that the movie might mislead and threaten the image and honour of Rani Laxmibai as per ANI report. The representatives of the group sent a letter to the makers of the film stating their concern over the portrayal of Queen of Jhansi , "if the image of Rani Laxmi Bai is defamed or maligned in the movie or if she is shown to be the lover of some Britisher, then the makers will face disastrous consequences", the letter said.

Along with Kangana, the film stars Ankita Lokhande, Atul Kulkarni, Suresh Oberoi, Danny Denzongpa and Jisshu Sengupta. It is co-directed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi and Kangana Ranaut and written by Prasoon Joshi.

The Karni Sena was in news last year when they opposed the release of Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer Padmaavat. Sanjay Leela Bhansali was eventually able to release his film on Republic Day 2018.
