Entertainment: Meet Babumoshai Bandookbaaz on August 25

Babumoshai Bandookbaaz starring actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has got its release date. The film directed by Kushan Nandy, will hit theatres on August 25. The 43-year-old actor tweeted about the release.

The poster of the film features Nawazuddin sporting a lungi, holding a transistor radio on his shoulder and a tin in his right hand.

“The teaser is just the beginning. And we are glad everyone’s loved it. There’s a lot more to look forward to. Things are definitely going to heat up this August,” said Kiran Shyam Shroff, the producer of the film.

The action-thriller also stars Divya Dutta, Bidita Bag, Murli Sharma, Jatin Goswami, Shraddha Das, Anil George, Jeetu Shivhare and Bhagwan Tiwari.

English audience to watch Hindi Medium

Indian comedy-drama Hindi Medium continues to establish its foothold in the international market with its release in parts of Asian markets, rest of Europe, parts of South America and some parts of Africa.

Hindi Medium, which also stars actor Deepak Dobriyal and Pakistani actress Saba Qamar, has collected over Rs 12 crore overseas in markets like Britain, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Released in India on May 19, the story of Hindi Medium revolves around a couple who wants to give best education to their daughter, so that she is accepted by the elite in society.

Dhulia’s Raagdesh to echo in Parliament

The trailer of the upcoming film Raagdesh will be launched at Parliament. Directed and produced by Tigmanshu Dhulia, the film is a periodic drama based on the famous Red Fort trial of the three INA officers that changed the course of India’s freedom movement.

The award-winning director says that the trailer’s launch in the Parliament is to pay tribute to the heroes of the Independence struggle. He feels honoured as Raagdesh becomes the first film to get permission for the trailer’s launch at the Parliament.

Talking about the film, Dhulia said, “The Red Fort trial is one of the most interesting and relevant part of our history. And Raagdesh is about that fascinating case.”

Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh and Mohit Marwah will play the lead roles respectively in the film. Presented by Rajya Sabha TV and produced by Gurdeep Singh Sappal, the film is slated to release on July 28.

Sunburn Festival to enthrall Australia

Australia is all set to come alive with Indian electronic dance music festival, Sunburn. The festival has been organised by brand Sunburn Reload in association with LIL B Entertainments. The organisers are expanding to Australia after successful editions in Dubai, Muscat and Nepal.

The festival which is an amalgamation of music, entertainment, food and shopping, will entail a 360-degree music experience with varied styles of electronic dance music being played at the event. Massive layout, impressive laser graphics, special effects like CO2 guns and confetti blasters and thematic stages are the other major attractions of the event.

Speaking about the festival, Sunburn CEO Karan Singh says, “We have been witnessing an increasing interest from Sunburn patrons from Australia which led us to launch the Melbourne edition.”

DJ Shaan will also perform at the event which will be be held on August 11 at Studio 3, Crown Casino, Melbourne.

Stalwarts of classical art to pay tribute at Bandish

The Living legends of Indian classical music and dance, Pandit Birju Maharaj, Rashid Khan and Kavita Krishnamurti will pay tribute to legendary Indian classical music composers at the eighth edition of Bandish- A Tribute to Legendary Composers. The event has been organised to honour the works of music composers like Inayat Hussain Khan, Meerabai, and Gajananrao Joshi among others.

The festival which will celebrate the best of Indian music is scheduled to be held at Tata Theatre from July 7. The three -day festival will open with the performances of Padma Talwarkar, Gajananrao Joshi and Rashid Khan. The second day will witness the performances by Pandit Birju Maharaj and Shekhar Sen.

The festival will conclude on July 9 with a selection of film songs based on raga, composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal, R D Burman and Ismail Darbar, presented by Kavita Krishnamurti.
