A Bengaluru daily has reported that Bharatiya Janata Party National President Amit Shah lost his cool with BS Yeddyurappa, the BJP’s CM face for Karnataka elections, after a very poor turnout at an election meeting for farmers that Shah was addressing in Mandya.

The report noted the following:

  • The event on Saturday was slated for Amit Shah to interact with famers in Mandya
  • However the event started very late and so many of the assembled farmers, who had waited several hours, left the event before Shah arrived
  • Faced with many empty chairs, Amit Shah lost his cool with BS Yeddyurappa
  • The daily added that Shas was "visibly upset” and "seething” and made his anger known to Yeddyurappa
  • The daily said that Shah then “chose not to interact with farmers and instead, delivered a 20-minute long speech”
  • A BJP leader told the daily that over 2,000 farmers attended the event
  • However the daily, referring to “sources”, said "only 700 farmers attended the event”
  • Shah then had lunch with a farmers’ group before leaving Mandya, said the report
