When Kendriya Vidyalaya was questioned as to why caste-discrimination is a part of questions class 6 exam paper, KV rubbished that the question paper was set by one of its schools in the Tamil Nadu

Two days back, DMK leader MK Stalin shared a question paper on Twitter that was discriminatory to ethnic minorities in its language asking the HRD ministry to prosecute whoever was responsible for drafting such a question paper. Although ‘the question paper’ is being widely circulated on social media, it is not clear as to which school in the state had set up these questions. One of the multiple-choice questions in the paper asked what the word ‘Dalit’ means, and listed options included “foreigners, untouchables, upper class and middle class.”

When Kendriya Vidyalaya was questioned as to why such questions form part of a class 6 exam paper, Kendriya Vidyalaya rubbished the reports that said the question paper was set by one of its schools in the state.

According to The Indian Express, the deputy commissioner of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Chennai, C Mani said that this question paper bears no resemblance to the kind of question papers of KV schools. He clarified further that he circulated this photo all over social media among Chennai Kendriya Vidyalaya staff and everybody claimed they did not know anything about such a paper. “I circulated the images of the question papers on social media, including the WhatsApp group of Chennai KVs, following which the principals OF 49 schools responded that the question paper was not from their schools, and even the paper pattern was quite different from the one followed by KV schools,” said C Mani.
