Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit has apologised to a senior journalist whose cheek he touched during a press conference. The journalist has accepted the apology, despite being unconvinced by his explanation. Lakshmi Subramaniam tweeted saying “I accept your apology, even though I am not convinced about your contention that you did it to appreciate a question I asked.”

Earlier on Wednesday, nearly 200 journalists had written a letter to Purohit expressing “great shock” at “harassment of senior journalist by your esteemed self”. They had demanded he apologise unconditionally to the journalist.
