Unique style of protest: In Delhi, protesters offer roses to policemen to shun hatred, violence

Delhi witnessed massive protests all over the city against the new Citizenship Amendment Act on Thursday. Thousands of demonstrators were detained along with many intellectuals, activists and political leaders.

A heavy police force was deployed, as many as 20 metro stations were closed amid chanting of aggressive slogans all across the city. While such steps hampered public movement and people ended up trapped in traffic snarls for hours, there were some interesting moments too. People chanted many creative slogans and flashed some placards with unique and unusual messages

One such moment won hearts over social media. Many young protesters decided to give flowers to the policemen deployed to stop them. This move was remarkable in the backdrop of the brutal police crackdown inside the campus of Jamia Milia Islamia University. These protesters gave the cops flowers chanting “Delhi Police, come with us, we will talk together we are educated we will not hit each other!”

The video of the flowers being given to the cops went viral on social media with many of the netizens commenting that violence always gets defeated by non-violence.

Not only the protesters, but the police officials were also seen distributing tea, biscuits and refreshment to the detained protesters
