Q How have you struggled to reach this far in the Hindi music industry?

Struggle is a part and parcel of any industry. I believe if one want to achieve something in life, one must be ready for the hardships and new lessons. I have had my tough times and still have to face many difficulties as I have yet to achieve many things. Coming from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, it was a big step to take up music as profession. Surviving in Mumbai and pursuing music is challenging. I am happy that my family has supported me and has been my strength throughout.

Q How does the music industry newcomers? Any particular experience?

Music industry as a whole is very welcoming. But one has to have the will to learn new things and also adapt to the changes that quickly happen here. I used to play guitar and I still do. But back in the days when I was new here I used to play guitar for singer Rekha Bhardwaj ji’s shows. When she heard me in singing one day during rehearsals, she told why don’t you sing along with me in my show. And that’s how I became the lead male vocalist in her shows.

Q What do you think about the remixes the industry is flooded nowadays?

I think they are great. Everyone has a different style of music and so to some, it may be good and for some, they may sound bad. But in my opinion, younger generation will listen to the old songs and rediscover them if they are remixed and presented in the format they like today.

Q What are your aspirations?

Aspirations are many. But one for sure is to do good music. I want to sing from the heart and make sure that the audiences love me for it.

Q What kind of music you would like to sing/make and why?

I usually sing everything. But I prefer romantic songs more, like my recent song  ‘Chandni Raat’ which is a pure romantic song. Such songs make you feel at ease and are a sheer pleasure to sing.
