Congress slammed Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for the insensitive remarks made by him to belittle Sonia Gandhi, the president of the Indian National Congress. The party has demanded that he give an immediate apology for the insensitive comment that lays bare the moral depravity and a deep-rooted perversion.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday dismissed Sonia Gandhi comparing her with a dead mouse. He made the remarks while campaigning in Sonipat. Haryana will go to polls on October 21, and the results will be declared on October 24.

Pointing towards the fact that such comments portray misogyny of Khattar and the BJP, the National General Secretary of Mahila Congress Apsara Reddy said that Comments like these not only expose the kind of misogynistic mindset that ML Khattar has towards women but also speaks volumes on why there has been 47% increase in the number of rape cases and more than 100% increase in cases pertaining to kidnapping of women in Haryana under the Khattar government.

“Our heart goes out to each and every woman in Haryana whose CM thinks that women can never be respected equally as men and what’s worse is he thinks 80-90% women file rape cases with a malicious intent of taking revenge on the person they had an argument with,” underscored Reddy.

Khattar’s thinking is detrimental to India and its march towards empowerment, said Reddy.

“If there is one thing that ML Khattar’s remark has done is it has boosted our steely resolve to keep such negative forces out and we will continue to stand by every citizen who is endangered by such a mindset, regardless of gender,” said Reddy.

This is not the first time Khattar has courted controversy. In August, he had said that people were claiming that Kashmiri women can be brought to Haryana for marriage after Jammu and Kashmir’s special status was revoked. Khattar had earlier blamed women for India’s rising number of rapes.
