Former Uttarakhand chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat landed into a controversy over his comments that Sars-Cov-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, “has a right to live”. The comment comes at a time when India is battling a devastating second wave of Covid-19.

Trivendra Singh Rawat was trolled on social media for his unusual observation on coronavirus after it went viral on social media. Uttarakhand Congress vice president Suryakant Dhasmana also took a dig at former Uttarakhand CM. He said: “What Rawat, who was the state’s CM, has said, is nothing but foolish and nonsense. He has lost his mind and has no vision because of which he was replaced abruptly by his party.”

This isn’t the first time that the former chief minister, who was abruptly replaced by TS Rawat in March this year, has been ridiculed for his comments. He stunned people in 2019 when he claimed that the cow is the only animal that inhales and exhales oxygen. In March this year, the BJP abruptly dropped him.

Meanwhile, India counted 3.43 lakh new cases of the novel coronavirus on Thursday, and 4,000 deaths. The country’s caseload of 2,40,46,809 now includes 37,04,893 active cases, 2,00,79,599 recoveries and 2,62,317 deaths.
